oof! long day.. 6 hours on re-writing codes to check calibration. started working on completeness for final check.. though spending time on previously worked results is not good, stefano also suggests that it is better to ensure the results before finalizing things. Will do skype chat with stefano tomorrow (wednesday) and arjen.

had quite a short work day due to imprs seminar and imprs evening.
I communicated with stefano through couple of emails regarding some questions..
one hour spent on writing up detector settings.
then started working on the stellar locus problem. Aim is to understand the locus of the stellar sources in j-k. Also, I need to check firmly the colors and with musyc since this part. so, I will do a quick revision of this checks again completely ( a quick re-do of work to confirm my plots) for Stefano.

Finish before monday or burst!!!!

details: image quality and its variations, source detections (size/stellarity), flux calibrations precision, image depth with 5sigma limits

work done today: few hours for information collection on the above topics. still some questions remains for which i am contacting stefano. Remaining time today has been spent on writing the above information into the draft.

I have been working on to complete the draft. The small things are quite a lot and it takes most of my time.

I had spent today working on producing plots of auto magnitude validation, and write up.. I am still working on that now. Started today very late, by 2 pm. I took 4 hours break in the evening and worked on this till now (5am)..

Started working at 10.30am today.
Had spent first 1 hour reading updates/ Astroph /news.
Starting working on my report. spent around 3 hours writing couple of paragraphs on J-K color plots.
--left home at 17.30
-- started working again at 21.00
4 hours on writing construction of synthetic magnitudes, why used, alternatives, equations.
few hours checking plots on synthetic magnitudes. I am planning to include color normalized by error plot in the paper. So tomorrow, I got to use some time shaping this plot in journal format including overplotting for multiple bins.
Also, I am planning to write remaining part of the paper which is validating total fluxes. I need to check first whether this is required from the Auto-Aper plot and If so, the method for validation (as given in Taylor et al)

Started working after couple of days of bad health. Today I worked on the draft section, which I am still clinging on too :( (slow as usual )
I had to work on few sections before I conclude this in the paper. The sections, as mentioned by Stefano and HW, are
1. Compare Euclids/2mass J-K color locus of stars and check the stellar sequence in the J-K HAWKI color, as well as the calibration of J-K stars.

2. For a large galaxy, compare with Auto magnitude of SEx and a large APER. Plot the distribution of Auto mag - Aper Mag.

Will give the update about all the three above process tomorrow. I started my work today at 10.30 and worked will 4.30 when one of the indian colleague dislocated his shoulder bone while playing football at the institute and I had to take him to the hospital. I am trying to resume work now for couple of hours.

I am back to Blogging.. I am at the moment writing up the draft on photometry. I will keep posted in this blog details about the draft like which section am I working on etc. in the future.. This is just to start with!

I am at present working on measuring the psf of some random stars and creation of empty image. I am checking out the new IRAF commands that I got to use. Its been a while since I worked with IRAF!!!

completed my PAC meeting.. it was quite a task! Phew.. two days of non stop working without sleep.. need to crash badly now. Will resume with Completeness later in the evening or tomorrow.

PAC meeting decided on Tuesday 10am.. report to be completed before Monday. Started to work on that

Trying to spot which are the objects in the K mosaic that can be used to get the PSF.. Its quite hard to differentiate between a star and an elliptical galaxy since no object is perfectly circular in the image.. am using IDL to get the PSF parameters.. cross checking with IRAF.. hope to produce the PSF for about 20 objects soon..

Dear HW and Stefano, I hope this would be a good place to discuss some online science and track down my order of working.. since Stefano is far away and it is easy if he is able follow me by some means.. I would prefer something even easier than this blog.. something like twitter but there you have to sign up and hence may be this is lot direct.. If you have any other blog site in mind, pls let me know and I will shift.. i know some softwares which are used in corporates to communicate between the groups, a common platform kinda thing.. but may be it is too much of work to install etc.. so i will try to update this site with the topics i am working on and things i am stuck with.. if i forget to update,. pls give a tap on the head and i will wake up!
